Hello everyone;
I did say "haphazardly" participating in the April PAD Challenge. This is why day one is being posted after day two.
Day 1 prompt of "write an optimistic poem"
Not Dead Yet, Me
Is it really such a tragedy
that my sentences are raggedy
words tread together by similarity?
The conversation is still defiantly
expressions of me.
Is it really such a travesty
that I wander aimlessly?
When I can travel through time so easily
…our life history
…a life lived outrageously.
Is it really such a disparity
that I have forgotten the melody
of your name? Still there’s some clarity….
I know the feelings of family
and passions intensity.
Is it really such an indignity
that something once familiar is now a novelty.
Or that simple tasks escape me.
I still dance to life’s jamboree
and sing majestically.
Is it really such a finality
even as I become more absentee?
There is plenty of life in my legacy.
Don’t bother writing my eulogy,
when there’s still time to create a memory.

A Welcomed Visitor

Today you came back
and brought the sun with you.
The neighborhood
celebrates full gusto.
Lawnmowers move
like synchronized swimmers
leaving rippled lines
in the greening grasses.
Sprinklers spin and sputter water
like a firework display.
White wine sparkles
in narrow stemmed glasses
Cardinals swing
on a safflower feeder
and robins with muddy beaks
peck for more worms.
Children fill the park
to show you who can swing
the highest and slide the fastest,
expressions of their gratitude.
They so wish you could stay
“for good this time.”
But we all know the forecast
has snow. So we learn
to take-in spring when she comes
and relish her warmth.

What a lovely scene of spring, love that the whole neighborhood celebrate with gusto ~ We are having a high of 22 C today, just gorgeous spring day ~ let it be always like this ~ Good to see you~
Thank you Grace! Thank you for hosting it was just to play with words 🙂
yes, this is so true. We have to take spring on her own terms, enjoy it while it lasts, as winter will again arrive…way too soon.
Thank you Mary;
It was a fantastic day. Thank you for reading Mary 🙂
That’s lovely Delaina, and, today, it seems as though Spring has finally arrived here. Hooray!
This is a delightful treat. We’ve been vascillating b/t hot and cold, which is extremely odd for southeast Texas. Friday it’s supposed to get down to 40. I especially like:
Lawnmowers move
like synchronized swimmers
leaving rippled lines
in the greening grasses.
Thank you for reading and for your support Laurie 🙂
The temps have been up and down here too but mostly down. As for the stanza you liked it was almost a haiku moment all of the neighbors lawns being mowed as well as the park. They just made me think synchronized swimmers. I wonder if some artful mowers would like to take up the challenge. 🙂
snow still….dont you hate the tease of spring? smiles…enjoy it while you got it…sounds like everyone came alive to enjoy yours…
Spring does love to tease but the pedals are so sweet. Thanks Brian
A lovely evocation of Spring.
Thank you Rosemary 🙂
