A Winter Sketch

A Winter Sketch

Grey white sky held
above the twig fingers
of windblown oaks.
A downy swings
on a suet cage
while her mate chirps
at the dogwood’s tip.
Tree, bird, and me
dream of Spring.

      Thanks Claudia;

      I love the Downy Woodpeckers, they lighten the winter gloom. They seem to be thanking us for the suet cakes and but a smile on my freezing face. 🙂

    I like this dream of spring! I have been dreaming spring for a while now, but so far the snow has not listened. I can hardly wait to hear chirping birds again…sounds heavenly to me.

    I can’t complain about the cold as we are having quite a mild winter but I still dream of spring. I can now hear birds in the morning but the days still feel dark and monotonous.

      It has been a cold and mostly dry winter though once the snow started it has settled in to stay. Thank you for reading. 🙂

      Thank you Loredana;
      I am very lucky to have three majestic oaks in the front and side yard. They bring me a lot of poetic inspiration.
