Sighs of Summer

Sighs of Summer

The cello sounds of moonlight bleeding
across a pond. Sing me your baritone melody
as violin dragonflies ripple shadows larger than life.
Call me out of loneliness sweet viola
your voice drawn against my heart.
With the piano, a sigh carries the release.

Love’s Current

Love’s Current

Around the bend of your kiss
is a mist that turns my voice thick.
Our journey reveals mysteries
one at a time.
No longer wading in uncertainty
we stand together under a waterfall of eternity.
Toes gripping a slippery foundation
fingers laced, we face each other
immersing ourselves
in the path that lies ahead.

Heart On a String

Heart on a String

It looks like a bleeding balloon from a distance.
Dripping or maybe oozing is more accurate.
Step closer, it is obviously not bobbing but beating
tethered to a string of promises
knotted up in hope.
Stepping even closer
you realize
it’s your hand holding the string.

Youthful Memories

Youthful Memories

Memories
of youth
of friendships
of innocent crushes
span the wide gap
of yesterday and today.
A teardrop stains my face
evidence of the beautiful tattoo
you gave my heart so long ago.

Connections

Connections

Heavy clouds block the sun and release.
Footsteps make a slurping — sucking sound
the ground is a sponge taking more.
In contrast to the grey-white sky, color flies
to the feeders and bobs brown and pink
as squirrels and bunnies nibble nuts and clover.
Watching and sharing their delights,
joy thrives in the swell and flow.
