Monday’s Poem

Poetry

Hello everyone;

I did say "haphazardly" participating in the April PAD Challenge. This is why day one is being posted after day two.
Day 1  prompt of "write an optimistic poem"

Not Dead Yet, Me

Is it really such a tragedy

that my sentences are raggedy

words tread together by similarity?

The conversation is still defiantly

expressions of me.

Is it really such a travesty

that I wander aimlessly?

When I can travel through time so easily

…our life history

…a life lived outrageously.

Is it really such a disparity

that I have forgotten the melody

of your name? Still there’s some clarity….

I know the feelings of family

and passions intensity.

Is it really such an indignity

that something once familiar is now a novelty.

Or that simple tasks escape me.

I still dance to life’s jamboree

and sing majestically.

Is it really such a finality

even as I become more absentee?

There is plenty of life in my legacy.

Don’t bother writing my eulogy,

when there’s still time to create a memory.

The Miracles of Love

The miracles of love take many forms:
Like passion shared by lovers
Like apprehension shared by friends
Like concern shared by parents

We walk across this land
Strong with purpose
Yet we are ignorant

We all walk across the earth
As if its sole design was for our individual needs
Thus we feel alone

The miracles of love take many forms:
Like living with less so that others can live
Like leading by example instead of ruling by oppression
Like fighting for the rights of others despite disagreement

We walk across this land
Strong with purpose
Yet we are vulnerable

We all walk across the earth
As if our own ideals and values should apply to others
Thus we are blind to our own coercion

The miracles of love take many forms:
Like appreciation not tolerance
Like support not judgment
Like forgiveness not blindness

We walk across this land
Strong with purpose
Yet we neglect

We all walk across the earth
As if our purpose is the only justification
Thus we are susceptible to our flaws

The miracles of love take many forms:
Like the acknowledgment that we all need approval
Like the determination that we all need substance
Like the recognition that we all share in life

We walk across this land
Strong with purpose
Yet we are fragile

We all walk across the earth
As if we have not a care in the world
Thus we forget to care for one another

The miracles of love take many forms:
This is why we must share passion for each other
This is why we must appreciate each other
This is why we must be concerned for each other

Thus the miracle of love will be the peace we find with each other

  • The miracle of love does take many forms! Loved this poem, Delaina!

Hope you and Kris and well!

  • I wish all could read that poem. I wish that was a poem that all teenagers had to go over and study in their English class. Wish that it could be broken down, line by line to learn of its truth in the words. Beautiful sentiments and powerful words.
