National Library Week: Poem for Audre Lorde

Audre Lorde

I found her on a library shelf.
She was waiting for me
& I was ready for her.
Her poetry
in black & white.
She taught me how to spell her name
in stanzas of passion
& lines of love.
My mind open, her words
touched my soul.
My mentor died too young
but her words live on.
In the stacks
she waits for you.
I hope someday to be there too.
