Hello everyone;

I did say "haphazardly" participating in the April PAD Challenge. This is why day one is being posted after day two.
Day 1  prompt of "write an optimistic poem"

Not Dead Yet, Me

Is it really such a tragedy

that my sentences are raggedy

words tread together by similarity?

The conversation is still defiantly

expressions of me.

Is it really such a travesty

that I wander aimlessly?

When I can travel through time so easily

…our life history

…a life lived outrageously.

Is it really such a disparity

that I have forgotten the melody

of your name? Still there’s some clarity….

I know the feelings of family

and passions intensity.

Is it really such an indignity

that something once familiar is now a novelty.

Or that simple tasks escape me.

I still dance to life’s jamboree

and sing majestically.

Is it really such a finality

even as I become more absentee?

There is plenty of life in my legacy.

Don’t bother writing my eulogy,

when there’s still time to create a memory.

Day 14 (Write a poem that uses at least two different forms of repetition.)

London Eye

Repetition & Rhythm

It’s rhythm that taps
taps those toes
To the dance floor you go
with nobody you know
the hips sway
and sway
while the mind drifts away.
It’s away your heart goes
to place only you know
eyes glaze
in love’s daze.
Low and sweet she serenades
of yesterday’s love
a love you know
held too tight
bled in the light
til you swore no more
but here you are
on the dance floor
with another, eyes doe and bright
you know your heart’s not ready
but the rhythm
is so right.

This poem is playing double duty. The prompt of “repetition” is part of the 31p 31d challenge and over at the dVerse pub Anthony Desmond is having us pay poetic tribute to music. “You spin me right, round, like a record baby round, round,” has already been done. So above is my contribution. Though I feel these are two prompts that need my further attention. 🙂

  • Sometimes a person’s heart surprises a person in being more ready than it initially seems. Smiles. I really liked this poem..

  • I like how you progress the poem and really love how you build the climax. Truly – the rhythm is so right…

  • This is Lovely.. and Truly the way i too.. sees the potential magicK of the dance and song of life…

Without a word.. i at 54.. go Rave dancing with the young.. in the early 20’s at local metro crowded club…

i would love to dance with anyone.. at any age.. but sadly they do not go…

And there is magicK there truly in feat of foot.. torso.. arms.. legs.. and hips.. as they synch together in eternal flow….

Ahh.. the non-verbal language.. of love it flows…

Letting It ALL go.. is ecstasy as it is shared without

    a word…

there are no disconnections.. in words of confusion..

    as Shakira says..

    hips don’t lie…

And i always come back for more.. after going home to my wife…

    alone….

The she wolf i am.. in wolf’s clothing.. to paraphrase and metaphor another Shakira song… where she too…

    goes home…

alone….but nah.. connecting in spirit.. to endless souls of love.. non-verbally in the realest way and oldest way…

    of human connection.. in
    dance and song..:)

  • This is a fun read! Once that foot starts tappin’ there’s no stopping you, then! I could definitely see this as a longer poem…great imagery and rhythm!

    • Hey Anthony!
So nice to see you here. Your comment did spin itself into spam the spam folder.
Thanks so much for your comments. Cheers!

  • I like this .. Definitely something to dance to.. The repetitions are clearly used in a way to enhance the beat.. Just like the rhymes.

  • smiles… the right rhythm can surely give us that certain lightness that feels so good and probably makes us more open than we would be usually…smiles

  • Sometimes that foot has to tap, the fingers snap, slipping into the tender trap of tango; what a fun piece; makes my booty shake, shake, shake. Thanks.

  • ha. this is a fun piece…and i can feel the music a bit
in the rock and sway of your words…and ready or not the rhythm
is gonna catch you…smiles—swear or otherwise…
